PURPOSE: A competition held in January each year in a national
competition for recognition and scholarships. The winner is awarded a
meeting with the President of the United States.
WHO MAY JOIN: Anyone is eligible. There is a class set up for
studying for this event and after-school practices are also required. 9
students are selected for the team, with varying GPA's. CLUB DUES OR

ACADEMIC CHALLENGE

and recognition.

PURPOSE: To provide students the opportunity to improve their bowling
skills and compete in bowling tournaments
WHO MAY JOIN: Any student that can provide his/her own transportation to
local bowling alley as well as tournaments throughout the north/northeast of
Houston.
CLUB DUES OR COSTS TO INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS: $10 fee to participate in
tryouts; $90 for the remainder of the bowling season. The $10 tryout fee is
applied to the total fee if the student makes the team.
MEETING DATES AND LOCATION: Specifics to be announced. The season fruns
from the beginning of October through February.

PURPOSE: To develop individual vocal technique and musicianship to
become contributing members of their respective vocal ensembles, and to
develop individual performance skills. Emphasis is placed on
performance, the development of each individual's talents, and social
awareness.
WHO MAY JOIN: The WHS Coral Department is all inclusive, however, an
audition is required in order to place students at the appropriate
level.
CHAMBER CHOIR: requires membership in the varsity ensemble which
requires the student have two choir periods. SPECIAL EVENTS THAT CLUB

Fall Concert, Christmas Concerts, Winter Concert, Spring Concert,
various competitions, Pop Concert, and other Westfield/community related
activities.

CHRISTIAN CLUB

PURPOSE: A team activity as well as a visual art, striving for
excellence through the many forms of dance and chorography.
WHO MAY JOIN: Following auditions each May, all incoming 9th, 10th
graders. Auditions in November for Winter guard are open to 10th and
11th graders.
SPECIAL EVENTS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR: Perform at
football games with the band, as well as band competitions. Competes
with the Texas Color guard Circuit in the winter.
DUES OR COSTS TO INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS: May vary year to year,
depending upon travel plans. $125.00 is the uniform cost. Additional
expenses may be offset with fundraising.
ATHLETIC PERIOD: 7th
PRACTICE: 6 to 8 hours per week, with some Saturday practice. In the
winter, all performances are on Saturday nights.
GAMES: Once per week / Friday or Saturday SEASON: Beginning with some
summer rehearsals through May.
