Here at Winship, we always strive to insure the safety of our students. This school year we have large number of students who are going home by car. We would like to recommend that each and every car rider student go home by school bus. The district provides the bus service free of charge to every student who is zoned to Winship. Your child will arrive at home sooner by bus than by car. Please consider this method of transportation to help alleviate the amount of cars blocking Spring Creek Drive at dismissal. If you choose to pick up your child from school each day, your child will be dismissed after all of the buses have left.
In order to provide a safer and smoother dismissal, it is necessary for us to implement our numerical car rider system. Every vehicle will have a number that will be issued to you by a staff member on car rider duty. This number will need to be posted on the passenger visor of your car. Every parent will need to help their student(s) remember their car rider number. All of the students riding with you will have the same number.
We will also need all parents who pick up their child(ren) by car to complete a Dismissal Authorization form. On this form, please list any persons who have authorization to pick up your child. Please fill out this form for each child riding with you and return it to your child’s teacher.
We will begin using this car rider procedure Monday, August 30th. Please make sure you are in the car rider line each day at 3:15pm. With your help, this system will provide a safer and more secure way of getting each child to their homes. Thank you for your help and cooperation to make our car rider system successful.
