Hello! Welcome to English II! My name is Sara Novosad. This is my first year teaching at Spring High School, and my fifth year teaching high school English. I have two children, Madelyn and Zach, who are in the second grade and kindergarten at Frank Elementary.

This year in English II we will be exploring World Literature by examing authors from various cultures and backgrounds, as well as emphasizing on the writing process, especially the narrative.

We will be publishing two research papers this year, one in the fall and then in the spring.

Also, there will be outside reading required of the students. In the fall they will be asked to purchase and read Gifted Hands by Ben Carson, and in the spring they will be asked to read The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, and Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. My suggestion would to be to try and purchase the books online for a discounted price, such as half.com, borders.com, or amazon.com.
