Levels of Questioning |

Level 1-Recall-The answers to Level 1 questions are stated in the text. These questions work on the factual level and they establish evidence of basic information. They may include who, what, when or where in the question.
Level 2 Questions-Analysis-The answers to these questions are implied in the text. They work on the level of interpretation and analysis. They may include how and why in the question. This type of question points out what textual evidence suggests or means.
Level 3 Questions-Synthesis-These questions go beyond the text to apply the themes of the text to parallel situations. Level 3 Questions work on the level of analysis, synthesis and/or evaluation. These questions use the text as a guide to explore societal or global implications.
