Reading |
Please encourage your child to be a reader. Show your child that you value reading by letting her see you reading. Talk to your child about what she has read, ask questions about the story, ask your child to tell you what the story was about. See how many details your child can supply. |
|
Weekly Yellow Sheets |
The weekly yellow sheet is the way I will keep you informed about your child's progress during the week. It will be sent home on Friday. It should be signed and returned to school on Monday. Look for the conduct grade, the reading level, and your child's grades. |
|
Spelling |
Students will bring a spelling list home each Monday. They should study the words daily for the spelling test they will take on each Friday. Five of the words on the list are the sight words we will be working on for the week. The other five words will all have something in common (short o words). See if your child can tell you how they are alike. |
|
Reading Rocks |
Your student will bring home a Reading Rocks homework paper each Friday to record minutes that they have read. Papers are due the following Friday. Please total the minutes and sign the sheet. Also make sure your child's name is written on the sheet. A grade is recorded in the grade book for homework, so this is an easy way to make a 100! |
|
Student Birthdays |
Please remember that if you want to send cupcakes for your child's birthday, they must come from a store bakery, they can not be homemade. Our snack time is at 10:20. |
|
Math |
We have a new math book this year. We have been learning about numbers and how to put them in order. We are now working on writing number senteces (4 + 3 = 7). When your child brings home a math paper, go over it togeter and have your child "teach" the lesson to you! |
