Science Starter – Energy Transformation
Overview: Relating Force and Motion
Engage: Students will start the Delivery of the Payload lab activity. This lab will help students to understand Newton’s third law of motion, that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Explore: *2 day activity* Delivery of the Pay Load: Learn to identify problem, variables, experimental design. Begin collecting data. Using Alka-Seltzer powered rockets (film Canisters) with different amounts of fuel to launch a payload of three pennies.

Overview: Relating Force and Motion
Students will read the article on actions that can affect motion. Students will then make a foldable by writing notes about friction, push or pull, air resistance, and gravity. Illustrate by drawing a picture of each action.

12/17

6.8c –Calculate average speed using distance and time.
6.8d- Measure and graph changes in motion.
