Community Affairs: Oversees holiday food drives and toy drive at Christmas for the needy. They may work with the nurse to identify those needs in the clinic which PTO might provide assistance.
Cultural Arts: Plans activities for our students, which culturally enhance their learning experience. Activities might include: visiting author, visiting artist, theater group, musical programs or plays. They also plan International Week focusing on a country/culture.
Hospitality: Plans monthly activities, which express appreciation for faculty and staff. Also plans “Happy Birthday” event each month.
Membership: Coordinates the PTO membership drive in August and September each year. They are also responsible for collecting information for, and arranging publishing of the Ponderosa Student Directory.
Publicity: Generate news items on school activities for publication in area newspapers. This involves photographing events as well as writing accompanying articles. They may compile album on school events.
Room Mothers: Staff booths for carnival and coordinate winter and spring or end of the year parties.
Special Events: Plans the annual Fun Run and makes arrangements for Grandparents’ Day prior to Thanksgiving, as well as selling spirit shirts and sweat shirts.
Tutoring: Coordinate volunteers to help tutor 3rd, 4th, and 5th level math students for January, February, and March preceding TAKS. They will also act as liaison between teacher and other tutors.
Volunteers: Calls volunteers for and oversees work of: Storytelling, Make and Take, Clinic assistance, Library assistance, etc. 2 positions: Pre-K – 2 and 3-5.
