About Otto H. Meyer Elementary School
Meyer Elementary School was named in honor of two members of the same family: Otto H. Meyer and Avalt H. Meyer, father and son, who together served on the Spring ISD Board of Trustees. Otto Meyer served on the Board starting in the mid-1920s and continued through the mid-1930s. Avalt Meyer began his service in 1946, and served for more than 24 years.

Our school opened in 1976 to serve the surrounding North Forest neighborhood. Its' design is similar to Winship, Hirsch, Jenkins, and Oak Creek campuses. Meyer’s recent remodeling and expansion has provided a new library, office suites, 4th/5th grade wing, and a nature trail.

WE BELIEVE:
All students have the inherent right to a quality education that will enable them to achieve their highest intellectual, social, physical, spiritual, and ethical development.

A quality education must focus on the complete development and training of students both as individuals and citizens of a democratic country.
Quality educational programs and services are provided in an atmosphere which strives to form partnerships with the home and community, and prepares students to function as productive and contributing members of a changing society.

The responsibility of education in a democracy is to create and provide a learning environment which makes it possible for students to understand themselves and the world about them, so they can live effectively in a society of expanding complexity, experiences, and opportunities.

Relationships among teachers, students, parents, and community members form the foundation upon which positive character traits and citizenship is developed, resulting in learning experiences that are meaningful and lasting.

Quality education requires the systematic and sustained efforts of students and teachers working towards the accomplishment of group and individual goals, while implementing strategies based upon research, effective practice, and educational data.

Education is a lifelong experience, which involves all aspects of human development and being.

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
