Hi! Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year at Jenkins Elementary! My name is Melisa Cruz. I am a speech/language pathologist at Jenkins Elementary. A speech pathologist is someone who assesses, diagnoses, and treats people with articulation, language, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders. I graduated from Texas State University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders. I have a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Texas A&M University-Kingsville . This is my eighth year at Jenkins and I am proud to be a part of the Jenkins family.

Erin Arnold is a speech pathology assistant and is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Erin will be servicing speech students at Jenkins Elementary and at Salyers Elementary this school year. Our upper level jaguars had the pleasure of meeting and working with Ms. Arnold last year, and we are glad that she has returned to Jenkins for a second year.

Donna Bass, Speech/Language Pathologist, will be in charge of speech/language assessments and IEP meetings this school year.

If you feel that your child is experiencing problems in the areas of speech/language, send a note requesting a speech/language consult to your child's teacher.

What if my child is not school age?

If your child is a preschooler and you have concerns about their speech/language, please call Cindy Upton at Meyer Elementary to set up your child's screening.

What if I have speech/language concerns about my infant/toddler?

If your child is age birth to three years old and experiencing developmental delays, ECI KEEP PACE is an Early Childhood Intervention Program that can help your child. Call 281-397-4000 to set up your appointment today.
