  Mrs. Melanie Zaborowske

Hello, I am Mrs. Zaborowske. This year I am teaching 7th and 8th grade science. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a wildlife emphasis and a minor in Animal Science. I have been teaching at Twin Creeks since January of 1991.

I really love teaching science and enjoy working with our students. Twin Creeks Middle School uses a Science Inquirey approach to learning. The students use many process skills and critical thinking skills while learning the TEKS. Hands-on-activities are used frequently. I like to use lessons that provide the students opportunities to use technology like SPARK Units and computers. Spring Independent School District embraces the 5E approach to learning. Students "engage" in learning and then "explore" the concepts and skills so they can "explain" what they are learning. By the end of a topic or unit, the students can "elababorate" on the TEKS they are learning which allows us to "evaluate" their progress.

8th grade science focuses on the Earth Sciences like Weather Climate, Ocean Systems, Physical Geology and Astronomy. Chemistry concepts and a unit on Forces and Motion will be included. 7th Grade Science will learn about Living Systems. We will investigate how organisms are classified in to the various Kingdoms, compare and contrast the structure of living organisms and study how humans have had an impact on the environment and how organisms have had to adapt to the environment in order to survive.
