In my classroom our motto is: I CAN TRY! We always try to do our best. I have many great jaguar students who always want to learn as much as possible. I am very proud of them!
This year in 2nd grade I am co-teaching with Mrs. Dunigan. We are all excited about having 2 teachers in the classroom several times throughout each school day. ALL students get the extra help and attention they need!

Learning about our National Government is our focus in Social Studies. How the government is organized into three branches for checks and balances, how a law is created, how our taxes are used, and the process of voting are all important studies for our students.

Guided Reading groups are in full swing, and many students have already acomplished the task of moving up to the next reading level. Mrs. Dunigan and I are very proud of them!
Our current reading skill is cause and effect. We are learning how one cause can have more than one effect. We look for these in our reading and in our school and every day life. The students have been busy creating and sharing their own cause and effect books!

We are just beginning our study of fractions, and understanding how a whole can be divided into equal parts.

In Science, we are learning about animals and their unique characteristics which place them into select groups. Our groups of study are mammals, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and birds.

Our next study is Adjectives, and how these special words are used to make our writing about nouns more vivid and interesting.

We have begun studying the "Six Traits of Writing" Our first trait is Ideas. Ideas are the heart of our writing.
