English I is designed to continue the learning process in high school from the junior high level where a student’s reading, writing, and speaking skills will be emphasized for preparation for advancing to English II.

Throughout the year, students will review and refine language and usage skills. Emphasis will be placed on reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Vocabulary skills will be stressed throughout the year.

Students will review and prepare for the TAKS test, given in the Spring Semester

Basic writing units will include narration, expository, personal, descriptive, critical analysis, a research paper along with comparison elements.

The Level English I will read Romeo and Juliet, The Odyssey, poetry units, and To Kill a Mockingbird.
Most extensive poetry and The Odyssey.
