Red Folders
Please check your child's red folder daily for graded papers, school handouts, and important notes from the teacher. Your child will also receive their homework in this folder. Look for their spelling list on Monday and help them practice their words daily. They will have a spelling test on Fridays. They will also receive a paper titled reading rocks. Your child needs to read nightly as daily homework. Daily reading practice is very important to the improvement of your childs reading.

The year is offically in session and we are busy learning many new things. In Reading, students are learning to predict a story that is going to be read. Have them practice saying "I predict the story will be about...because..." Also, have them predict the setting of the story (when and where) and find clues that help them know that!
In Math, we have finished up units on patterns, skip counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's, and even/odd numbers. PLEASE, practice these skills with your child. It is an ongoing skill that they need to perfect by the end of the year. Students also need to practice recognizing numbers 1-100, making flashcards would be very beneficial!
