Mildred Jenkins Elementary was named in honor of the long time school nurse Mildred Jenkins. Mrs. Jenkins retired in 1974 after 24 years of service to the district. She moved from Houston to a home just off Spring Cypress Road in 1945 with her husband and two children. She saw her son and daughter graduate from Spring High School and eventually marry and provide her with great joy – her grand children and great grand children. Mrs. Jenkins was a dedicated wife and mother, however she always found time to minister to her “community family” when there was a need. Her tireless effort truly earned her a place in our hearts. Mildred Jenkins exemplifies the philosophy that work is one of the ways of sharing in God’s endless work.
