Jump Rope For Heart
On March 12, 2008, Jenkins Elementary is holding it’s seventh annual Jump Rope For Heart event.

Jump Rope For Heart is a fun event that encourages community service and is educational. Our students learn jump-rope skills while raising money to fund lifesaving research and educational programs.

Our school also earns gift certificates for physical education equipment. (With our tight budgets, this comes in handy!)

Family and friends are welcome to support your child’s participation by making contributions. Your child can even raise funds online (just visit www.americanheart.org/jump to get started). However, we ask that children not go door-to-door or ask strangers for donations. Checks should be made payable to the American Heart Association. Participants receive thank-you gifts based on the amount of contributions they collect.

The students should return their collection envelopes by (Tues.) March 11, 2008. Please support our event! If you have any questions or if you are interested in volunteering at the event, please contact Coach Bacher at 832-764-8300.

Author/Illustrator Visits Jenkins
Author/Illustrator, Ralph Masiello entertained Jenkins' students and staff with stories and drawings from his many children's books. Students learned of the research and process a book goes through before being published. He showed students that they too can draw!
Gold Performance Awards!!!!!
In the 2006-2007 state accountability system, there are district and campus acknowledgments for high performance on indicators other than those used to determine accountability ratings. Jenkins Elementary has been awarded two Gold Performance Acknowledgments by the Texas Education Agency. The standard to earn the acknowledgment level is rigorous. Jenkins was recognized in the areas of Commended on Science and Comparable Improvement in the area of Reading/English Language Arts. We are proud of our students

At Jenkins we believe that:

--High academic expectations and standards, which build on students’ strengths, should be assessed in a variety of ways.
--Lifelong learners will be developed by providing opportunities to solve real-life problems using critical thinking skills.
--We should continually offer quality staff development that focuses on incorporating technology into the curriculum for staff and students.
--We should implement appropriate early interventions for all students.
--We should provide character education and social skills instruction so that our students will learn to be responsible citizens of our community, nation and the world.
