Family and Consumer Science
Welcome to Family and Consumer Science. I am Julie Crider. I have been a teacher for more than 20 years at all levels from pre-school to high school. This year I will be teaching Intro to Culinary Arts, Nutrition and Food Science, and Personal and Family Development. I will also be involved with the FCCLA organization. Students will participate in Tri-Club as well as FCCLA events.

My e-mail address is jcrider@springisd.org. This is going to be a great year!

Proposed Changes to TEKS
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is proposing changes to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) governing Career and Technical Education (CTE).

A listing of all proposed changes to CTE TEKS can be found at ritter.tea.state.tx.us/teks/cteTEKS.html

In this proposed plan I would be teaching students as part of the Human Services sequence, available at
ritter.tea.state.tx.us/teks/cte/sequences_hum_serv_draft_021109.pdf

The TEKS for this sequence can be found at ritter.tea.state.tx.us/teks/cte/draftrule/SubchptrJ.pdf

I encourage both students and parents to review these important changes.
