Welcome to my home page! My name is Janette Hudspeth. This is my 19th year teaching and also my 19th year at Jenkins. I am so excited about my class this year--they are a great group of kids!
Conference Day will be Columbus Day, October 8th. I am currently in the process of scheduling conferences for that day. I am hoping to conference with all parents in October. Please contact me if you have partiular needs for this conference, such as a particular time of day or need to schedule for another day. My daily conference time is 1:30, however, I can meet after school most days with advance notice.
We will be discussing the beginning of the year screening and expectations for where you child should be in April when we complete our PTAAS testing. If you ever have any questions, please call me here at the school or email me at Janetteh@springisd.org

This year I am very excited to be implementing a new handwriting program. We will focus on capital lettters first, then lower case letters in a developmentally appropriate manner. The program is called Handwriting Without Tears. Although it has been around for many years this will be our first year to use it with our kindergarteners at Jenkins.We are hoping it will allow our writing to become automatic and natural.
We have also been learning about the letter sounds and sight words. So far we have covered the sight words- I, see, like, to.

In math we have already studied about shapes and their attributes and are presently completing a unit on sequence and position words- such as left and right, above, below, beside, between, under and above.
