I am one of a team of four art teachers at Spring High School. I graduated from The University Of New Mexico with a BFA Degree in Studio Arts.
At Spring High School I am responsible for teaching Traditional Photography II, III, and IV, Electronic Media, Art I and Advanced Placement 2D design.
In Art I, I teach the students basic methods of drawing, painting, sculputre, printmaking, cartooning, and photo.
Photo II students will learn about the camera, film processing, and print developing. During the year they will be given assigment sheets to develop their skill level.
The Photo III and IV students will be working on their own concentrations as well as assignments that will be given to them.
Electronic Media will be given assignments in Painter, Poser, Brice 3-D, Photoshop, as well as other programs.
The Advance Placement 2-D classes are taught with the intent that ll students will be prepared to submit a portfolio to the college Board at the end of the school year. Completion of the portfolio and a grade of a 3 or above, will earn the student credits at the University level.
The portfolio consists of 3 sections.
Section I: Quality
Five actual works that demonstrate the students mastery of design. They are asked to demonstrate quality through carefully selected examples of their work.
Section II: Concentration
Twelve works describing an in-depth exploration of a particular design concern. They are asked to devote considerable time, effort, and thought to an investigation of a specific visula idea.
Section III: Breadth
A variety of twelve works demonstrating their understanding of the principles of design.
My goal is for all of my students to achieve their greatest potential.
