Parent Information & Contact Page |
My name is Frances Packman and I will be teaching English II and English II honors this school year. This is my ninth year teaching, my eighth year teaching at Spring High. I am a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University and am a native Houstonion while living in Spring for the last 23 years. My goal this school year is to prepare your student for the new TEKS from the state regarding grammar, writing and reading skills in preparation for Junior curriculum.
My tutorial days are, by appointment please, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until 4:00 when the first activity bus leaves at 4:30. Parents can use this website to keep up with daily assignments which are noted on the calendar pages. Each day will be addressed with the assignment given in class and any 'homefun' expected for the next day.
Blackboard is a program which will be introduced to students and some assignments will be handed in via this internet program. Every student in SISD has an account and can access this program from home. More information will be forthcoming regarding access to this website which is used by most colleges and universities.

This year our framework as a school has changed. Each student will be members of a 'house' where core classes are located in a central area. Spring High has seven houses and your student will be in House 5 or MANE house. This change is an effort to create a safe environment along with establishing strong relationships for teachers and students. Along with the houses, students will be exposed to block classes on Wednesday and Thursday. MWF will be regular first through seven classes, while odd classes will meet on Wednesday and even classes will meet on Thursday. This Thursday change will also allow student late arrival at 9:30 and allow a once weekly Wednesday advisory period for each Lion. Our advisory periods allow students to continue this relationship through the years by scheduling the same teacher each year they are in Spring. My email address is below and you can contact me regarding questions or concerns about this change in our structure. francespa@springisd.org is the quickest and easist way to reach me; I check my email every class period along with every night before 10pm.
