This syllabus contains basic information of expectations for the class. Each student is required to keep this in their class binder.

This parent letter was given to all English II students for completion and returning for credit.

This download contains both syllabus and parent information for students to complete and return to class. The syllabus will be filed in their English II binder for reference during the school year.

The books we will be reading for English II will consist of Gifted Hands by Ben Carson, Night by Elie Weisel, The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, and the last novel will be Speak by Laurie Halsie Anderson. Gifted Hands and Night will be read in the fall, with the school supplying Night, and the other two novels, The Secret Life of Bees and Speak will be read in the Spring.

Speak will be due by the end of March while The Secret Life of Bees will need to be purchased by the end of February.

English Honors will be reading their own independent books every six weeks. Books needed for class work will be Night, supplied by the school for the second six weeks, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, due by November 2, Anthem by Any Rand, which will need to be purchased by the end of November and read by the end of the fall semester.

We will also be reading The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein for the fifth six weeks and finally Speak in the sixth six weeks. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact me at francespa@springisd.org
