El nivel IV es de nivel standard, y crédito universitario. Siempre recomiendo que en esta clase si se puede se debe tomar con vista de ir a la universidad y por eso se debe de inscribir el alumno como "concurrent credit" de North Harris Community College.

The Cultural and Linguistic Course is a very important exposure for students who have had two years of Spanish and World History. Our goal is to expose students in this one semester course to higher levels of culture, economics, politics and country idiosyncrasies covering Spain, Portugal and Latin America. The importance of these countries to the United States is also explored. An internet active course students will also be exposed to the Financial Times, The New York Times, Latin American newspapers and other informative journals. No formal textbook is utilized in this class. Students basicall become "desk officers" specializing in one-three countries. They are exposed to the rest of the countries through the efforts of the entire class. This class is very useful for students wishing to enter international business, U.S. government work, and international entrepreneurship.

En nuestra clase no solamente aprendemos el idioma castellano si no también estudiamos geografía, historia, cuentos,literature,negocios y muchas cosas de interés para todos los estudiantes y sus intereses.

My new course "Culture and Linguistics" is a dynamic and intellectually challenging course within a an interesting and "fun" environment. Students in addition to exposure to economics, politics, arts, entrepreneurship will also be able to improve on their language knowledge not only of Spanish but also of Portuguese. Thus, students should have some very key exposure to this hemisfere and Europe, thus being able to maintain intellectually motiving conversations in the world of business, government and education.

Nació en Cuba y se educó en La Habana y Dallas, Texas. En Dallas se recibió con un B.A. y M.A. en S.M.U. Al terminar en S.M.U. estudió en la Universidad de Texas ganándose un M.B.A. en Finanzas y Mercadeo. Hasta el año 1991 trabajó en empresas multinacionales en varios países. En el 91 decidió regresar a la universidad y recibió su doctorado en la Universidad de Houston. Regresó a Venezuela y en 1999 comenzó a trabajar en distritos escolares en Texas.

I was born in Cuba completing my elementary education there. Subsequently my father moved us to the United States and I completed my education there. I am a graduate of S.M.U., the University of Texas at Austin with an M.B.A. in marketing and Finance and a Doctorate in education and administration from the University of Houston. For over 30 years I was an executive with international firms and had the opportunity to travel and live with my family in many parts of the world. My knowledge of English, Spanish and Portuguese has served me well. In today's flat world it is important for you the student and for families to encourage children to become international oriented. This is the path for America: International trade and for those with the skills the better jobs!

Esta es una clase de descubrimiento ya que vamos a mejorar nuestro idioma y todo lo que aprendimos en español 1.

Todos los días tenemos que entregar un trabajo hecho en la clase individualmente o hecho en grupo. Si nos comportamos bien en la clase podemos ir de vez en cuando a la biblioteca y diseñar proyectos de historia, geografía, música, u otros temas de interés a lo que estamos estudiando.

Además tenemos exámenes cada 2-3 semanas. Los proyectos y las tareas del día cuentan 50% y los exámenes cuentan el otro 50%.

Con gusto los espero en nuestra clase y aprenderemos mucho juntos.

This one semester course will help the student become internationally oriented. By working in teams, doing research, and become a "desk officer" for a particular country or a group of countries, the student will polish his intellectual acumen and be able to improve and sharpen his international skills. Daily graded activities, group activities, and a final exam based on international skills learned will complete our semester of activities. Visitors from international firms in Houston, consular corps and entrepreneurs will complete this most rewarding activity. Student centered and activity driven no one will be bored.

Es un gran honor ofrecer esta clase en nuestra linda escuela. Aquí nos encontramos con dos niveles de estudiantes: a. aquellos que reciben crédito escolar normal b. y otros que recibirán crédito universitario. Trabajaremos en equipo e individualmente. Vamos a leer, escribir, y conversar todo en el idioma. Como los antiguos griegos este es una clase para estudiantes que ya han decidido dominar otro idioma: castellano. La clase pertenece a personas serias que van utilizar el nuevo idioma en negocios, educación, diplomacia u otros caminos intelectuales. Todos los días analizaremos periódicos, películas, obras de arte, asuntos de negocio y diplomacia. Entregaremos un trabajo diario, y haremos proyectos especiales que cuentan como exámenes. También tendremos exámenes rigurosos pero de interés a todos. Dividiremos nuestros esfuerzos entre 50% y otro 50% u otras normas todavía por crear.

Thank you for giving me the honor to work with your child. My assignments are varied: Spanish 2, Spanish 4 - regular and College Concurrent, and the Cultural and Linguistic course which is in English and a little "bit" of Spanish and Portuguese. The goal here is to have your child sharpen his international skils. My name is Dr. Pita and I grew up in Cuba and Dallas. I have degrees from S.M.U. and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas - Austin. After 31 years of working in the international business arena, I decided to go back to my first love and work helping students in High School. This year I am teaching 4 sections of Spanish 2, 1of Spanish 4, and our newest course Culture and Linguistic.

Historically, my classes have good grades with very high standards. We not just learn Spanish, culture, linguistics, exposure to Portuguese, but also geography, history, international business, economics, literature and art.

I provide a variety of documents which are of interest to your child. We have a daily activity grade which includes turning in a homework or class activity. I call them "jobs" which turn into a payroll check or grade. If we do not work we can not get a check. I also provide a lot of rewards in points and activities so that everyone can pull his/her wheel and get a good grade.

Failure is not an option! Only Success and lots of interesting Spanish and real life cultural experiences.
