Advantages of a second language
Studies show that learning a second language results in students achieving greater divergent thinking, creativity, and cognitive development compared to monolingual children. Studies have also shown that when students learn a second language they have a tendency to outscore those who are proficient in only a single language on tests of nonverbal and verbal intelligence.
Spanish learning techniques
1. Practice, practice practice!!
2. Be patient. Learning a second language takes time and devotion
3. Find opportunities outside of class to listen and speak Spanish. Try watching Spanish tv, listening to Spanish radio, and speaking to friends in Spanish.
4. Make flash cards.
5. Label your surroundings
About the teacher
I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's of Arts in Criminal Justice and a minor in Spanish. Other than teaching I enjoy running, reading, and photography. I coach youth soccer and love country dancing. I'm currently training to run a half marathon and spend the rest of my non-existing time cheering on the Houston Rockets.
