Syllabus of class expectations
English IV Honors is a class designed to gear students for the A.P. exam which qualifies as Freshman Composition class.

The goals of the class are to expand abilities to write persuasively using rhetorical devices, reason arguments and build logical claims in writing.

Major grades = 60%
Daily, quiz = 40%

All due dates are final and students can use the web site for help with all major assignments.

Reading: We will read various types of non-fiction pieces ranging in length and scope.
Writing: Every six weeks a major paper and occassional paper are due with draft deadlines.
Focus/Journals: Composition books were bought for the use of activities in quick writes, journals, and review.
Discussion: The Socratic method will be taught and sessions will be every week, generally on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Outside reading: Homefun given every Wednesday for Socratic Friday.
Homefun: additional homefun daily when assigned.
Independent Novels: 200 pages or more of any genre of the non-fiction, memoir, or narrative caliber suited for beyond high school learning.

Papers should be printed when turned in, not merely emailed or put on a flash drive. Students can come after school to print off a flash drive when needed with me.
