This class will explore color, texture, line, shape and form, and value using various mediums of pencil, ink, pastels, acrylics, watercolor, and clay. We will explore artwork from different time periods and discuss styles and write about what we see.

The skills you should walk away with after this semester will include:
o manipulating form and shape
o becoming familiar and skilled at using various sculptural materials
o creating and depicting texture
o developing accuracy in realistic sculpture and creativity in abstract sculpture
o becoming skilled at hand-building clay and becoming familiar with the pottery wheel, glazes and kiln

•The first nine weeks will be spent learning new skills and techniques, learning about artists, and experimenting with various sculptural mediums. The second nine weeks will concentrate on the study of ceramics (the art of using clay)
