Welcome 2009-2010 School Year
This website is to connect you with all the information for my class. I'm currently teaching Art I, Sculpture and Ceramics.
ART 1
This class will explore color, texture, line, shape and form, and value using various mediums of pencil, ink, pastels, acrylics, watercolor, and clay. We will explore artwork from different time periods and discuss styles and write about what we see.
SCULPTURE
The skills you should walk away with after this semester will include: manipulating form and shape, becoming familiar and skilled at using various sculptural materials, creating and depicting texture, and developing accuracy in realistic sculpture and creativity in abstract sculpture.
CERAMICS
Ideas and basic techniques exploring clay as an art material: pinch, coil, slab, modular construction, wheel throwing, with focus on nonfunctional art. Introduction to glaze techniques, kiln loading, firing, and basic concepts of three-dimensional design. The aesthetics of form, visual thinking, the history of ceramics.
