EARN THE RIGHT TO BE PROUD!
MAJOR PAPER DUE! DECEMBER 18TH!
Students have been assigned a major paper due next Friday. They are to: Choose a Police or Law Enforcement Agency (Federal, State, or Local)Write a paper on the history and development of the agency, it's mission, goals, and objectives. The next part of this paper should include hiring requirements, minimum education requirements, base salary, prior experience necessary, basic responsibilities, and chance for promotion. Students chose their agencies today and should work on this assignment at home and in class so that it is completed by Friday December 18, 2009.
Class rules
Very simple procedures are in place for my classroom. I expect all students to be: Prompt, Prepared, Productive, and Polite. This would include bringing a writing tool to class EVERY day! While I don't mind loaning them out, I don't seem to be getting them back. High school students should be able to keep up with and provide their own school supplies. Please encourage your students to use appropriate language in the classroom. Slang terms are not appropriate!
Technical Introduction to Criminal Justice
Intoduction to Criminal Justice is a vocational course for students in grades 9-12. This curriculum has been designed as a one period, two semester instructional program. The course will provide students with background knowledge of the philosophy and history of criminal justice in this country including the need for laws, the functioonal workings and interrelationship of the components of the Criminal Justice system. Police, courts, and corrections are discussed from a systems perspective. Students demonstrate knowledge of how to respond to inquiries, complaints, crisis situations, and to make appropriate referrals. The course has been adapted to the High School curriculum as an on-level course. However, certain elements of the course will require varying degrees of above level work, which will prepare students taking Criminal Justice classes in college to be more successful.
