Small Learning Community
Dekaney High School is configured as a small learning community. The concept of the high school includes four academic houses and one elective house. Students will enter an academic house as a freshman and will be served in that academic house until they graduate. Students will come together across the house in their elective classes. The purpose of small learning communities is to promote academic success with personalized instruction and promote relationships among students and staff.
Professional Learning Community
Professional Learning Communities is the continuous improvement model that is being utilized by Dekaney High School. This model promotes collaboration among teachers to ensure academic success. Teachers are expected to work on teams, review and analyze their individual and team data and to promote student learning. Four essential questions of learning communities are:

1. What do we want students to learn?
2. How do we know they have learned it?
3. What will we do if they do not know it?
4. What will we do if they already know it?
