I'm Dan Twomey--a proud graduate of The University of Houston--GO COOGS!--and I'm in my 24th year in the Business Department at Spring High School. My wife and all three of my sons graduated from SHS. I teach Accounting, Web Mastering, and Recordkeeping.

The Accounting classes will learn to balance the Accounting Equation, and then get into debits and credits. We will learn the Accounting Cycle for a proprietorship during the first semester. We are currently working on journalizing and breaking transactions up into debits and credits.

The Web classes are working with HTML, the foundation for Web pages. We're currently working on frames. The Web classes will also learn some Photoshop during the semester. We will begin our big group project next week.

Recordkeeping students will learn the basics of money management and personal finance during the fall semester. We will start with careers, goals, and personal finances. Our current unit of study is payroll.

I'm also the UIL Accounting sponsor at SHS. The 2009 UIL Accounting team took 3rd place in the District 13-5A Spring Academic Meet, and one SHS Accounting student qualified for Regionals as the third place finisher in 13-5A.
