SISD CATE sponsors Camp Quest

Spring Independent School District’s Career and Technical Education Department will be hosting Camp Quest Tuesday, June 10th through Friday, June 13th. Camp Quest is an engaging, fun filled, hands-on career camp designed for current 3rd-11th grade students.

Aviation Camp

The Organization of Black Airline Pilots presents Atlanta ACE Camp, sponsored by Delta Air Lines.

July 14-18, 2008 & July 21-25, 2008.

Admission Requirements: Admission is offered to boys and girls from 14 to 18 years old who have an interest in learning about aviation. Applicants are competitively ranked based on age, cumulative GPA, and essay.

Students must be physically capable of participating in camp activities.

High standards of behavior and self-discipline are expected and students must abide by all camp regulations.

Application Process: Click here for an application packet. The application deadline is: Monday June 2, 2008.

The requirements are:

1. Submit a completed and signed ACE Camp application
2. Write and submit an essay of one page expressing your interest in aviation. You may include your hobbies, civic involvement, and extra-curricular activities
3. Submit a copy of your official school transcript or report card indicating your cumulative GPA (no need for original)
4. Submit a copy of your birth certificate (no need for original)
5. Download application form (PDF) then print and mail form to:

Did you know? The Houston Museum of Natural Science has a satellite location in The Woodlands Mall, across from Sears!

This summer, they are offering "Summer 2008 X-plorations: Summer Science Adventures," for children, ages 5-12. Before and after camp care is also available.
Camps begin June 9.

The ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp

The ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp (BHSSC) is a free, academic program of The Harris Foundation, which takes an active role in shaping education in students entering grade 6,7, or 8 in the fall of 2008.

Science, mathematics and engineering are critical to society’s infrastructure for the 21st century and preserving that future requires an investment, such as the BHSSC, in our youth today.

This camp program was originally developed as a collaborative effort of the Harris Foundation,
the University of Houston (UH) and the Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU), designed to support historically underserved and underrepresented students with limited opportunities.

Session I: The ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp (BHSSC) at the University of
Houston main campus in Houston, Texas June 10 - 22, 2008.
