Achieve Texas |
AchieveTexas is a system designed to help students (and their parents) make wise education choices. It is based on the belief that the curricula of the 21st century should combine rigorous academics with relevant career education. When schools integrate academic and technical education, students can see the “usefulness” of what they are learning. The system also facilitates a seamless transition from secondary to post secondary opportunities. |

Career Goals in SISD |
Spring ISD has set a goal that all students will identify a career pathway by the end of the 8th grade. To that end, students are being exposed to the sixteen career clusters available at the States' Career Clusters Initiative website. On the web page of our school of choice for careers, Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, there are sample courses of study for each career pathway offered at that campus. Also of help might be the Wunsche College and Career web page.

8th grade Career Survey |
As they do every year, 8th grade students will be in the Media Center’s computer lab Jan.30-Feb.1, completing an online career survey. Coordinated by 8th grade counselor, Kristina Spencer, and led by Wunsche career counselor Teddi Stewart, the career survey analyzes student interests. Their answers to the survey are compiled to determine their top career cluster and to provide a ranking of all 16 career clusters.
On Monday, February 4, 8th graders will receive a course selection packet which will include their career survey printout. Course selections for all students will be completed online this year. For more information on that process, click on the “2008-2009 Program of Studies” page to the left.
Interested 6th and 7th grade students may complete the career survey at home by logging on to The Bridges website. At the home page, choose “Create a Profile” and follow the on-screen instructions from there.
For more information on this or any course selection concern, contact your child’s counselor.
