My name is BETTY GUINN, and I am Chairperson of Business and CTE (Career and Technical Education) at Westfield High School. I also serve as teacher-coordinator for the Business Education Career Preparation program.

I am a native Houstonian and have taught various business subjects at Westfield for numerous years. Prior to that I taught at St. Pius X High School for three years and then worked in the Public Affairs Department at Exxon/Mobil (formerly Exxon Company USA) for two years.

I received a B.S. degree from the University of Houston in 1972, and a Masters in Education degree in 1980--also from the U of H.

My pride and joy is my one daughter, Elizabeth, who is a 2001 graduate of Westfield and a 2005 graduate of the University of Texas in Austin. She is currently an Event Coordinator for a major athletic club in Dallas.

My main interests are computers, traveling, reading "good" books, and shopping.

My current educational focus is on meeting the needs of my students--whatever they may be.
In my classroom I like to maintain an informal but businesslike atmosphere--similar to the one that many of my students encounter at their training stations.

My hope is that my students leave my class with some kind of rewarding experience that will enable them to be productive members of society. My main focus is to help them realize their career goals and give them experiences that will enhance their future plans.
