The DuPont Engineering and Sourcing employees in the Cypress Station regional office began their partnership with Bammel Elementary in 2002 to tutor math students. Each volunteer devotes one hour a week to a group of four students throughout the school year. In addition to the weekly tutoring, volunteer employees also participate in other activities at the school, such as the “Science and Math Are Real Things Convention (SMART)”, using tools from DuPont’s Zoom Into Engineering and the DuPont sponsored Science News for Kids programs.
The DuPont Volunteer Recognition Program has recognized the service of its employees by awarding Bammel Elementary $1000. The Miracles of Math Tutoring Team include Brian Niemi, Melanie Masek, Ian Bickford, Hector Gonzalez, Susan McDaniel, and Pieter Kruger. Bammel Elementary applauds the commitment and generosity of the DuPont Corporation and employees.
