My name is Alicia Walton and I am the School Counselor at Jenkins Elementary. I got my Bachelors degree in Elemenatry Education and my Masters degree in School Counseling from Eastern New Mexico University. I have been a counselor in various capacities and now I am honored to work with all the students at Jenkins.

I am here to help students develop their personal/social, career, and academic goals. I create guidance lessons, facilitate groups, and also visit with students individually to help students reach their full potential.

Play and Problem-Solving~
These are the two tools I use to help students. If a student is not able to talk about their concerns then we play together. Through play sometimes students are able to discover solutions. I also teach students how to problem-solve. We identify the problem, make a list of solutions, and create a plan with the best solution. The greatest part of my job is when a student comes up to me, overwhelmed with excitement, and tells me how their plan worked.

It is never too early to talk to your children about drugs. Please take a moment to let your children know how drugs can destroy their lives.

Wings Program:
Healing From Divorce
