Characteristics of the Kindergartner
1. Has better control over large muscles than small.
2. Brain reaches 90% of adult weight.
3. Fairly mature sense of balance.
4. Generally has developed hand preferences.
5. Is susceptible to diseases and colds.
6. Draws a triangle or a square.
7. Can draw a recognizable picture of a man or simple object.
8. Cuts with scissors.
9. Holds a pencil like an adult.
10. Prints first name in large irregular letters.
11. Frequently reverses letters.
12. Skips with both feet.
13. Is able to dress his/herself.
14. Can attend bathroom needs.
15. Has vocabulary of over 2,000 words.
16. Average sentence of six words.
17. Fundamental rules of grammar are understood.
18. Can tell you what day it is.
19. Can identify colors.
20. Knows right from wrong.
21. Some self-reliance is developed.
22. Plays best with smaller groups.
23. Is able to solve minor problems without help.
24. Tends to be stable and well-adjusted.
