Journalism
This course is designed to give you a broad introduction to the field of journalism. The aim of this class is for students to become better consumers of all types of news sources, as well as to become qualified to work on the school newspaper and/or yearbook. At the end of the year, you will have a greater understanding of the structure of the mass media industry and its impact on our society.
Photojournalism
This course is designed to give you a broad introduction to photojournalism. The aim of this class is for students to become better photographers, as well as to become qualified to work on the school newspaper and/or yearbook. At the end of the year, you will have a greater understanding of photojournalism and its impact on our society.

Photojournalism students are to bring $100 for film, paper and processing by the end of the first six weeks. If students have their own cameras, they may use them for this class
Newspaper 1&2
This course is designed for students who want an in-depth experience in the production of a newspaper. The advanced study and application of journalism style and the various types of journalistic writing (news, features, sports, editorials, reviews), headline writing, photography, advertising, and design are emphasized. These courses are designed to provide students the opportunity to work with advanced technology, strengthen their analytical and problem-solving skills, improve their communication skills, and manage responsibility.

Students receive guided instruction in interviewing, writing, design, budget management, and organizational skills necessary to produce the school newspaper, as well as guided practice in the areas of responsibility necessary for the production of the paper. Students also develop their abilities to work as a team as they produce the newspaper.
Yearbook 1,2&3
This course is designed for students who want an in-depth experience in the production of a yearbook. The advanced study and application of photo composition skills, page layout and design skills, headline and caption writing skills, and advertising are emphasized. These courses are designed to provide students the opportunity to work with advanced technology, strengthen their analytical and problem-solving skills, improve their communication skills, and manage responsibility.

Students receive guided instruction in the fundamentals of journalistic writing, photojournalism, graphic design, budget management, and organizational skills necessary to produce the yearbook, as well as guided practice in the areas of responsibility necessary for the production of the book. Students also develop their abilities to work as a team as they produce the yearbook.
