Hello, My name is Rick Mills and I teach a relatively new class here at Spring High called Technical Systems. The class is a modular, hands-on activities class exposing the students to a variety of modern technologies. The activities are; Flight Simulation, Flight Transportation, Laser Applications, Virtual Reality, Engineering Structures, Graphic Design, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Robotics, Electricity, Electronics, 3D Modeling, Precision Measure, CNC Mill, and we have two modules the students have put together which are Computer Animation and AutoCAD 2005. All of our current units are introductory units, however the students are allowed to do in-depth specific research when time allows. I am also hoping the class will be allowed to expand to a few other interesting units in the very near future.
Since this is a Career and Technology class the students will also do in-depth research on varying careers. As the students go through a two to three week rotation there will be listed of content associated careers the students can investigate. We currently use the Bridges.com site for all of our career investigations.
I also coach Varsity and Jr. Varsity Swimming and Diving here at Spring High. Those periods are 1st Varsity and 7th Jr. Varsity. Practices for both begin the second day of school and continue throughout the school year. Athletes also have the opportunity to extend their athletic experience during the summer months.
