My name is Kathy Vestal and I teach the Community Based class. I am beginning my 30th year of teaching with 29 of them being in Spring. Over the years I have had many students and have watched them grow up into productive and fine young adults.
I was born in Virginia and raised in several of the southern states. I attended high school in New Caney, Texas and graduated from there in 1975. I went to college in Richmond, Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University.
I began my teaching career in Aldine, taught one year and then entered Spring where I taught Exceptional Needs Students at Meyer Elementary under Milton Cooper. After my first year in Spring, we split my class and moved the older students to the old Wunsche Middle School (currently now Carl Wunsche Academy) where I worked under Mike Mier. I remained at Wunsche until Twin Creeks was built in 1984 and have been here ever since. Mike Mier has since retired and our principal now is Charles Rooke. I love Twin Creeks and I love my job. Terry Bailes is my assistant and longtime friend. I am proud to have her to work with and your children are lucky to have her in the classroom as well.
I hope this website will help my students express themselves and allow many of you to see them as those of us who work with them daily do--as compassionate, loving, productive young individuals with a tremendous amount to offer. We are very proud of them and I know you will be too.
